TLI exists because the founders lived what our participants live — and knew there had to be a better way to grow as an Executive Director.

Our mission

We strengthen nonprofit leaders, build inclusive peer community, and help organizations transform — through a "both/and" model of cohort learning and individualized executive coaching.

Every cohort is intentionally diverse in mission, size, and background, reflecting the richness of the social sector we serve.

Our Story

From two Executive Directors, a shared conviction.

After a combined 40+ years as Executive Directors — Jeff at City Year, Tim at Leadership Greater Washington — the founders knew running a nonprofit is fulfilling but often exhausting and lonely.

Having both led and participated in leadership programs, they set out to create the organization they wished had existed: one that offered peer community and individualized coaching, together.

The butterfly represents change, transformation, comfort, hope, and positivity — the journey we walk alongside every leader we serve.

Co-Leader

Jeffrey Franco

Jeff spent nearly over a decade leading City Year DC, growing the organization's impact across public schools in the region. He now advises nonprofit leaders on strategy, board development, and executive transitions via advisory services, executive coaching interim CEO leadership— bringing a practitioner's honesty to every coaching conversation.

Co-Leader

Tim Kime, Jr.

Tim led Leadership Greater Washington and has coached hundreds of executives through the messy middle of organizational change. His coaching combines deep listening with concrete leadership frameworks that leaders can put to work the next morning. Tim also leverages and incorporates his unique gift as an artist and expertise with the DISC assessment to nonprofit leaders to their full potential.
